Dear Friends - In this season of social distancing and world pandemic, we write to thank you for empowering us to remain in the Gap, especially during this moving and tender time. As more and more people in our neighborhoods are out of work and seeking help, we write to provide an update on our actions and to ask for your support .
Food and Hunger in our Midst. More people are using the food pantry (528 people this month). Due to a higher demand, we have increased the purchase and collection of food and supplies.
Help With Rent, Utilities, Health Costs. The economy is getting worse for many in Arlington. To help manage the resources and connect better with our neighbor and their families, we have formed a Pandemic Response Team. The team is helping to plan outreach and benevolence, screen applicants for assistance, and form prayer teams. We would love to have a few more people join the team in case you or somebody you know is gifted, called and is eager to help us plan and organize this effort.
Here are some of the other ways we have seen the body of Christ come together and ABB serve as a bridge. Please keep on praying for us and the growing number of volunteers needed to meet families where they are at. ‘Being Kingdom minded as we meet practical needs’ is more than a motto...to God be the Glory!
Finally, join us in praying for these neighbors as we seek to serve them in tangible ways and connect them to Jesus followers throughout the county.
Blessings to you,
Joel and Carlos

- Last month we gave out 8,000 pounds of food, up from almost 3,000 pounds in March. We are now open Wednesday to Friday starting at 10 am, serving 20 families a day. We need more of everything – gloves, hand sanitizer, plastic bags, non-perishables (pasta, rice, beans, can goods) and non-perishables (vegetables, meats, dairy, fruits, etc.).

- We had been helping 4 families each month with rent and other needs prior to COVID.
- Thanks to a grant and help from several generous donors, in June we will help 22 families towards rent, medicine, food and other basic needs while quadrupling the funds given from $125 to $500 each. Our goal is to help 100 families and give away $200,000 in assistance during the crisis.
- ABB is managing opportunities to help neighbors in South Arlington. We screen applications, follow up with a phone interview, confirm the need and the place where we would send a check on behalf of the family in need and proceed to payment. Our goal is to channel resources and create relationships between those in need and those willing and able to help.

- McLean Bible Arlington brings weekly truckloads of food, to give away to people in South Arlington.
- Steve K. and Carlos D. lead the Band of Brothers weekly via zoom as we connect and encourage local pastors and pray with and for them. Thankful for a regular time to walk alongside these leaders as they carry and care for their flock in creative but intentional ways.
Finally, join us in praying for these neighbors as we seek to serve them in tangible ways and connect them to Jesus followers throughout the county.
Blessings to you,
